Student Life
Student Life at Ventana revolves around four key ingredients—Community Life, Recreational Life, Servant Life and Spiritual Life—that help ensure a great experience for you, while affording the best environment for God to mold you during your time with us.
Community Life
Living in community is one of the greatest rewards and challenges we face as followers of Christ. With our own selfishness quickly exposed, the opportunity to extend the grace of Christ abounds. At Ventana, you will gain friends for life while you learn that “community requires commitment.”
From the giant California Sequoias to the picturesque Baja peninsula, you will learn how to serve others by living, sharing and serving your roommates. As you make the most of your life, you will head off to college equipped with the Christ-like character required to live with others.
Recreational Life
Recreation at Ventana provides needed entertainment and exercise, while allowing students to grow closer to each other and to God through His creation. We offer a variety of experiences that challenge students in a fun, friendly environment regardless of experience or ability.
From high country canoeing to surfing the mellow waves at our secret spot in Baja, you’ll have opportunities that will stretch and grow you physically, emotionally, and spiritually. You will return confident and motivated by a broadened world-view and a new vision for how you can lead and serve others.
Servant Life
We serve, learn, and play for three months in California, then spend six months in Mexico living among the poor and marginalized. Here, you’ll get to minister in ways you never have before. Pick tomatoes with a migrant worker in Baja. Feed the homeless by the beach. And so much more. Come follow in the footsteps of our Savior.
Learning to love and serve others in various cultures is a core value that Ventana instills in students. Servanthood will take many different forms as we travel from location to location. Make the most of your life by learning now how fulfilling it is to make a difference in the lives of those whom God greatly cares for, but this world doesn’t.
Spiritual Life
“The worth and excellency of a soul is measured by the object of its love.” (Henry Scougal)
Ventana wants students to have God as their supreme love. We want students to leave Ventana and treasure Christ so much that they will joyfully serve Him every day of their life. That’s why students are immersed in an environment where they regularly meet God through His Word. We want students to be captivated by God as they study His living, active, and acutely relevant truth.
Much like we serve together, we grow together. So students study God’s Word together while daily engaging in service. Through staff facilitation and accountable relationships, students partake in honest, meaningful discussion as they interact with the truth of God’s Word.
