Our Staff: Ventana Team
President/Founders, Doug and Carrie VomSteeg
With a gift for making history class fun and understandable and being selected as teacher of the year by his fellow staff in 2004, Doug never imagined leaving the teaching profession. He loved what he did and it was evident by those who knew him. Yet following 14 years of teaching public high school he obeyed a new calling from God. A calling that would ask them to sell everything and simply follow Him. In 2005 he and his wife Carrie (along with their two boys) entered full-time ministry as founders of Ventana Ministries.
Directors of Community and Programs, Jason and Tina Emberger
Their hometown is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – best known for cheese steaks and the Liberty Bell – they joined Ventana in 2006. They have both worked in camping and youth ministry for six years, which has given them great experiences and knowledge for their roles with Ventana Ministries.
Director of Advancement and Development, Jon Ahlum
With his degrees in Bible and Business non-profits and over 15 years of experience in Christian Camping, he will bring an added layer of depth and insight that will take this organic ministry into the mainstream. Yet, he is not all pocket protector. He is an outdoor enthusiast from Wyoming who loves to mountain bike and surf.
Office Manager, Kasey Abrahamian
Her hometown is Temecula, California. She essentially does all the things Doug doesn’t like to do. With her accounting skills and passion for detail, she makes this ministry run efficiently and keeps the government officials happy by completing all the forms they demand.
Mentor to female students, Ellen Moore
A recent graduate of North Park University in Chicago with an amazing musical talent, she will offer more than her coffee-house-performing-sandal-wearing-flower-in-the-ear persona can offer. With her contagious personality and her simple lifestyle she might not direct people toward Wall Street, but more to a deeper relationship with Jesus.
Mentor to male students, Nat Fondell
Originally from Nome, Alaska and a recent college graduate from Chicago, he is passionate about missions and calling others to live transformed lives. With a playful personality and a desire to connect with others, he will convince others that good things really do come from Alaska besides oil and Bald Eagles.
